The WineKitchen is the only independent winery restaurant within the acclaimed Marlborough wine region. Chef and owner Alain Hauswirth was born in Bern, Switzerland but has called Marlborough home for over 25 years. Classically trained, Alain is renowned for his ability to source premium seasonal produce and respect it from paddock to plate.
Prior to establishing The WineKitchen, Alain founded some of Marlborough's iconic hospitality spots including Le Cafe, Figaros, and the Burleigh Dairy. He also spent several years as a faculty member at the Ara Institute of Technology, training the next generation within its Food, Hospitality and Tourism programme. Alain has travelled extensively for both work and pleasure, which has contributed to his in-depth understanding of international flavours.
The WineKitchen is Alain's passion project. The restaurant is surrounded by established gardens within a family-owned organic vineyard, the location providing an idyllic backdrop to Alain's vibrant cuisine.
